Alfredo Reinado Following the death of rebel leader Alfredo Reinado during a failed coup we bring back an exclusive interview and profile of him. In it, he explains why he turned against the government.
Reinado was the respected police commander who turned into East Timor's most wanted man. When security forces shot dead anti-government protestors last March, Reinado attacked rival troops. "I had to get out there and stop them", he reasons. "I had to defend the people". Claiming he would never receive a fair trial, he went on the run.
