In contrast we gain access to the elite Afghan Commandos, who rigidly control the camera crew. They are well trained but on the sharpest front of this war, trying to fight an invisible enemy with little protection. Their Islamic slogans sound like the Taliban’s but they recognise their country will remain in the dark ages unless it’s tribal divides are overcome. ‘As long as we are still fighting about the fact that you come from Kandahar, I am from Kunduz and he is from Masar, we can never rebuild’.
