Calorie Clash

Calorie Clash New York City wants to force fast food restaurants to list the calories in their products. Not surprisingly the big food chains are opposed. But so are some New Yorkers who think the land of the free is giving way to a nanny state.
The health authorities in the US fear obesity has reached epidemic proportions, particularly among teenagers. So NYC is trying to confront the problem by forcing fast food chains to list each food item's calorie content. With restaurants and some New Yorkers claiming the idea is draconian and is taking away consumer freedom, nutritionist Marion Nestle claims that the state has a right to be involved. " The state has a role in every single aspect of the food business...and this is simply another part of that role. It isn't doing something new or breaking new ground. It is just tweaking an existing system."
