As the small town of Axbridge prepares for its traditional annual carnival, there is one resident determined to challenge the status quo. Will the first gay male carnival queen win over his hostile neighbours?

"Its all in the name of fun, remember?" says David's foster mother, as he nervously gets into his lilac carnival dress. But attracting angry and taunting stares wherever he goes, David's decision to stand his ground is clearly upsetting the locals. When David confesses, "I did get threatened to be stabbed..." it is obvious that there is more than a bit of fun at stake for this brave 15 year old.
