The country has fallen victim to a common problem in the post-colonial developing world. More than 75% of the population live below poverty level. Mugabe's victory in gaining independence in the 70's has left him bitter toward the British government and the first world in general. But his people are suffering. Supporters of opposition MDC leader Morgan Tsvangarai will tell you that the land grabbers "are the jobless people who have nothing to do, no source of income, nothing, desperate people, so they agree to be used to commit various acts of violence." Members of the Mugabe-supporting Zanu-PF, mostly war veterans, tell you of their plight to sustain a family on a tiny plot of land. With British money and European loans on the line, this piece asks Zimbabweans what they really think of their leader and their future.
