Worldwide high rise fire risk crisis

Combustible The Grenfell fire shocked the world, but in Australia it brought back memories of the Lacrosse Tower fire in Melbourne in 2014. "In my career, I've never seen anything like it," confesses Adam Dalrymple, one of the firemen who fought the blaze. Although miraculously nobody died in the Lacrosse fire, the cause of it and Grenfell were one and the same: aluminium cladding with a flammable polyethylene core, or PE. "The cladding type used on that particular building doesn't comply with the regulations," says Adam. Despite this, PE still exists in thousands of buildings across Australia with sign of removal. As one senator laments, "Everyone has someone else to point the finger at."
