A blind Haitian singer, performs a mournful ballad reflecting how in Hait one tragedy follows fast upon another…

Calixte's songs about Haiti's woes strike a chord, but it's is a lonely protest against international indifference, even as Haitians grow ever more hungry and desperate..

(SONG ).

Four hours  to the south of Port au Prince - we found this road washed away by a torrent of water. Sandy wrought an awesome  a trail of devastation, cutting off communities and leaving many stranded..

It's also left many feeling vulnerable.. we met Noam Cornu returning home with his sick 6 month old baby. His boy had a fever - possibly malaria. He said they've received no help from the government or the international aid agencies -

Even this village, did not escape

High up in the hills it was battered the fierce winds and pummelled with water

Even before the hurriance there was a growing food crisis in Haiti - now there's a fear of mass hunger. Up to 90 per of crops were lost these southern areas…

These struggling farmers are close to despair - not only are they are now hungry but they've also lost their source of income.

Hurricane Sandy, brought so many problems. It passed through here, destroyed our house, killed our cows, our pigs, our goats, our chickens ---All of our livestock. Our crops - maize and plantain were all destroyed. We have nothing left.

An emergency appeal for $75 million dollars has been launched by the Haitian government and UNited nations - but the farmers here are sceptical that they will get any help.

If aid comes to Haiti after a disaster you only learn about it from the radio. the aid stays with those at the top. what's crushing our country is that when a disaster happens, nothing gets to us - the poor.

The people higher up, they just grab it..

A few miles down the road we came across rotting plantain. now the trees are submerged in stagnant water, the fruit gone. The livelihoods of many have been ruined.
