Landless in Brazil
The farming movement changing the face of Brazil
The Brazilian landless movement has relocated a quarter of a million people to unproductive farmland. In a country where social disparity is high, this goes against the flow of rural people moving to the city for a better chance, where they often end up in favelas.
Sergio today collects his eggs and manages a smallholding. He is one of many Brazilians moving back to the country. Sergio is part of a movement changing the face of Brazil. Faced with strong and sometimes brutal opposition from Brazil’s powerful landowners the future is looking unstable.
