End Of The Line

Can South Africa's failing railways be saved?

End Of The Line Once the centre of South Africa's economy and life, the railway network is now almost gone.
Once-thriving towns lie derelict, the last few residents barely scratching a living. These towns were built for the railway - they supplied its workers and its commerce, but now the railway has become so inefficient it is no longer economical. The government is left with a quandary: to sell off the railways, or to try and revitalise it with public funds.
