US Warship

The floating airport used to fight the Taliban.

US Warship More than 60 jets a day are launched from US Warship Roosevelt, targeting the Taliban with bombs, but the 5500 people on board have reservations about the work.
Thirty technicians are on hand to make sure the F14 take off goes without a hitch. It is catapulted into the sky - reaching 0 - 260 km per hour in 2 seconds. More than 60 jets are launched from the Roosevelt's four runways every day and around 5500 people are needed to keep the giant floating airport working. Cooped up in noisy, poorly ventilated and extremely cramped conditions, men and women work around the clock. While the bombs are being loaded, practising Muslims pray for peace and a quick return home. 15 Muslims serve on the carrier, among them 21 year old ship electrician Michael Davids. " Anybody with any faith should have mixed emotions about it: innocent people are dying," comments Davids. However as more and more pilots are returning still fully laden with bombs, it looks like the USS Roosevelt may soon be sent home. Produced by ORF Fernsehprogramm-Service GmbH & Co KG
