Saucy Postcards

The origin of England's saucy seaside postcards

Saucy Postcards What are the original of Britain's traditional saucy seaside postcards?
Smutty British humour from the saucy seaside postcards: high art, or tasteless and tacky? This is where the public face of that stiff upper lip crumbles into something completely different. Despite its coastal association, the saucy postcard began life in Yorkshire, and soon its popularity took off. "The seaside postcard is a very strange thing", says actor Bill Pertwee. "They are, I think, a world apart and people have accepted that."
