Papua Justice

Papua Justice Over 100,000 people have died in West Papua's struggle for independence from Indonesia. Now the Free Papua Movement are changing their tactics.
In the small town of Wewak, independence leaders from neighbouring West Papua gather for a secret meeting about their future. The murders of two American teachers at Freeport several years ago has cast a long shadow over their cause. But now, after a lengthy FBI investigation, the matter seems to be coming to a head. Former OPM fighter Anthonius Wamang has been accused of the murders. In an exclusive interview, he confesses to his role: "I apologise to the victims and their families and I'm ready to take responsibility." But Human Rights activist John Rumbiak believes there's much more to the murders. "Wamang and his followers were being trained and armed by militias and the Indonesian military." Wamang's indictment may enable the OPM to push ahead with their new strategy of peaceful negotiation. But what really happened that night may never be discovered.
