Dostum The Kingmaker

The Uzbek warlord who became a king.

Dostum The Kingmaker An engaging look at the alliance between General Dostum and General Massoud during the Northern Alliance's fight against the Taliban in the north of Afghanistan.
With Taliban territory continuing to fall to the Northern Alliance, we look back to when the Uzbek warlord, General Dostum, first joined up with Massoud to form an alliance against the Taliban. At the height of his power, Dostum controlled six provinces in the north of Afghanistan, and commanded an extraordinary following amongst his people, who named him Pasha - "the King". A rare glimpse of one of the most resilient of the opposition commanders.
