Ethiopia's Agony Last year, Ethiopia was being touted as Africa's great hope. But reports of widespread intimidation and human rights abuses led to aid being cut off. We hear from some victims.
Reports from former detainees tell of a camp near Addis Ababa where tens of thousands are imprisoned. "Some prisoners were blinded, some had their legs broken, others their teeth smashed", describes one former prisoner. Despite repeated requests, no one has been allowed access. As one former prisoner states, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi; "will do anything to stay in power".
