Fighting for Survival All across India, farmers are being forced off their land to make way for new developments. But the Ho, one of India's surviving indigenous tribes, refuses to go quietly.
"They're trying to drive us away", complains one villager. Their land is on top of billions of dollars of mineral reserves. It's been sold to developers by the government but the Ho received virtually nothing. When they tried to protest, the police opened fire. "Some were shot in the stomach, some were rolling in pain. People were just dying", states one eyewitness. Twelve were killed and others seriously wounded. But the deaths only galvanised their protest. The government has promised the victims compensation but all offers have been rejected. As one woman states: "We did not send our children to die so we could get their money. What we want is our fields."
