But many doubt the elections will be free and fair. According to human rights organizations, freedom of speech is severely limited, journalists are arbitrarily arrested and voting registers falsified. "Whatever Musharraf says will be the law", predicts Nasreen Mirza. Others question if the new leader will be able to stand up to the military or tackle extremists.
