Michelangelo

Michelangelo The 15th century artist and sculptor Michelangelo was often condemned for his depictions of the naked human body. Scholars have always known that the virtuoso's statue of Jesus Chirst, La Pieta, was never intended to be clothed.
His first version, a naked two metre statue, was discovered by Professor Silvia Danesi Squarzina. "When I saw it I was thunderstruck" says Squarzina who solved the statue's identity. The previously unrecognised sculpture which was found hidden in a monastery in all its naked glory, has since been moved to a high security chapel.
