Boys Ballet Imagine the Swan Lake ballet without a female swan in sight. Valery Mikhailovsjy's St. Petersburg's Ballet unveils an all-male cast who gracefully depict female roles.
"If a man has proper physical qualities, litheness, grace, he is able to dance a lady's part even better than a woman" says Valery. The response in Russia has been varied and some are pleasantly surprised. One female audience member says "On one hand it causes aggression and on the other, admiration. It is very unusual to see, but I am delighted". So far the experience leaves the audience seemingly romanced.
