Angola's civil war rages on. For the most part it has brought nothing but despair and destruction to its people. People are hungry and regularly have to flee their villages. Many try to improve their lot, the violence makes it near impossible: "We make a garden, and we come to harvest, but there are always armed men to shoot us and take the food." Yet while most suffer, a lucky few are making millions from the conflict. Angola has one of Africa's largest diamond reserves, and the conflict drives profits up. Only those at the top benefit however, and the poor continue to suffer, despite their country's valuable natural resources.
