Making The Film

One day I bumped into Alex Honnold, arguably the world’s best-known rock climber. Alex was passing through Cape Town; he was on safari in South Africa. I asked him if he was interested in coming back to climb and star in a film, and he agreed. Alex suggested Hazel Findlay as a co-star, Alex had met Hazel on a National Geographic climbing trip in the Middle East a year before. Hazel had always wanted to come to South Africa, he said. I thought a female lead with a British accent would work well for the film. It did.
