Battle of the Tech Giants
For the first time in 13 years, Apple has announced negative growth. Overtaking them is Google's parent company Alphabet, whose investment in research and development outstrips that of their rival.
"Some believe it's saturation", says Ian Sher, technology editor at CNET. He suggests that while historically Apple has made its money from the iPhone, the end to their exponential growth can be explained by a lack of innovation behind its main product. The fact that they're thinking so far ahead of the peers was enough to up their value.
