The Producers

After witnessing her mother Lori go through the struggles of Breast Cancer, 27 year old first-time filmmaker Emily Gerhardson knew she needed to create a documentary discussing the continuing effects cancer can have on one’s life - even beyond the treatments. Born and raised in Fargo, ND, she now resides in Los Angeles, CA where she continues to develop her filmmaking craft. Her mission with “Part Of Me Now: Living With Breast Cancer” is to promote community and fellowship for patients and loved ones affected by the disease and its treatments.

Making The Film

Emily [Gerhardson, Director] knew she needed to have a great sense of community when presenting “Part Of Me Now”, so she chose to focus on subjects who have connections to her hometown Fargo, North Dakota.

Emily flew back and forth from Los Angeles to Fargo four times to film women who have completed their Breast Cancer treatments or were Stage Four.

Just before starting post-production, Emily found a man willing to share his story from Grand Forks, North Dakota who recently retired in Queen Creek, Arizona. She drove to film his interview summer 2015 before working on post for a year.
