Walk In Their Shoes The backlog of migrants attempting to reach the USA is growing. This report follows the halting progress of two migrant caravans as they slowly wend their way through Mexico.
“If we go back to El Salvador they’ll kill me,” says a teenager who claims he's escaping gangs back home. He's on an arduous trail north through Mexico. Since October, huge groups of migrants have been fleeing such violence in "caravans" from Central America. "I'm prepared to die trying to make a better future for my family," says Ruben, travelling on foot with his pregnant wife and children. Yet even after evading cartel kidnappings to reach the US border, there is no guarantee of asylum.
