In 2018 the American Psychological Association published a report based on 40 years of research which showed that, "traditional masculinity, marked by stoicism, competitiveness, dominance and aggression", has left men 50% more likely to get heart disease or cancer and 3.5 times more likely to commit suicide. "We don't have to hide from this", says Ted Bunch, founder of a 'violence prevention' organisation for boys and men.
