The coronavirus crisis has prompted both unprecedented levels of social isolation and made community support more vital than ever. This report examines how charities and volunteers are responding.
"In this time it's easy for all of us to think about ourselves", says one charity worker. "But we need to work together and share." Her charity's donation drive for vulnerable people in Queensland has been remarkably successful. In other areas, volunteers are delivering supplies to more and more people in isolation, working together under increasing pressure. "I just want to give back to the community", says one volunteer.
