A Fish A Day

Swallowing a live fish to treat asthma

A Fish A Day Half a million asthmatics are flocking to a clinic in Hyderabad, India for a strange treatment: swallowing a live fish coated in yellow paste.
Kiran and her husband have travelled more than 24 hours from Delhi. She was treated by modern medicine, but it did nothing and had terrible side effects. Now, Kiran swallows her guppy and smiles: "I have been cured. So I have trust." Stories like this come from everyone in the long queue. The Goud brothers are the fourth generation to administer the recipe. They claim that for it to work it has to be free. But if you get past the idea of swallowing a live fish, just hope you can get it past your lips!
