We are the Baye Fall

The journey of three extraordinary characters who join five million followers on a pilgrimage called The Grand Magal.

We are the Baye Fall Join Ami, Bara, and Bas, all dreadlocked Senegalese Muslims identifying as Baye Fall, as they embark on a spiritual journey to the holy city of Touba, revealing a kaleidoscopic human spectacle almost completely unreported in the global press.
The Baye Fall follow a spiritual leader, Cheikh Amadou Bamba, whose teaching is rooted in the idea of helping your neighbour. The Magal celebration is prepared by the collective efforts of the Baye Fall community and is open to anyone for free. 'Never in your life you will go anywhere where you can eat and sleep without paying. Touba is the only place.' says Bas, a Baye Fall member. 'We're living together, we're like a family', explains another. *Correction: The Grand Magal commemorates Cheikh Amadou Bamba going into exile, not his return.
