Majlinda Kelmendi is a hope for war-torn Kosovo at the Tokyo Olympics
The previously war-torn nation of Kosovo is taking part in the Olympics under their only flag for only the second time. Previous gold judo winner Majlinda Kelmendi hoped to bring back her second medal.
Majilinda Kelmendi is Kosovo's leading sports star. In 2016, she won gold in Judo at the Olympics. 'I'm so happy that I can help my country through sport. I feel blessed,' said Kelmendi after winning gold in Rio. Kelmendi's coach had to abandon his sporting aspirations because of the war. 'All these things I couldn't do myself as an athlete, I wanted to give to Majilinda and other athletes'.
