While Switzerland is a country of neutrality, an investigation has shown that Swiss-made weapons can be found on battlefields around the world. One aircraft has been shown to be used in Afghanistan.
The Pilatus aircraft, originally designed for civilian transport in Switzerland, has been found to have been used in Afghanistan for active intelligence in air raids and bombing missions. ‘The first plane circled for an hour. We know these planes and the dangers they represent, so we started to evacuate’, says Abdul, who lost two sons in the bombing attack last July. By piecing together satellite and social media evidence, investigators have confirmed the presence of these Swiss planes involved in the attacks. ‘The PC-12 played a critical role in the A-29 strike’, says an article written by two American military officials on the role of the aircraft in the attack. ‘These planes escaped all controls, because they were exported first as civilian aircraft to the US’, notes the investigation.
