Residents flee Russian shelling outside of Kyiv

Escape From Irpin Irpin, a small town just outside Kyiv, has been attacked relentlessly by Russian forces since the start of the invasion. Hundreds of residents try to escape the danger in buses, made more difficult by shelling.
Our parents experienced war, they thought we wouldn’t. I promised to take them to a safe place’. Irpin’s hospital has been badly affected by the attacks; it has no heating or access to medical equipment, leaving doctors unable to help the wounded. ‘It’s very hard for everyone. They’re sleeping in basements. No electricity, no water. It’s a humanitarian disaster’, says one resident.
