Saving Bosnia's Rivers Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country still divided after a catastrophic war. Yet its three main ethnic groups have united against the construction of dams on the last of Europe's free-flowing rivers.
Bosnia's clean clear rivers are famous - but now at risk. Across ethnic divides, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are fighting against the construction of dams along many rivers. 'Ordinary people in Bosnia and Herzegovina are perfectly capable of living together', says Lejla, an environmental organizer. Thanks to the efforts of activists, many rivers have survived threats from the dammers: 'People here are quite prepared to do everything that's needed to defend the river', says activist Edhem.
