Hope Restored

The underwater gardeners saving our coral reefs

Hope Restored Science predicts corals are doomed in the oceans of the future, but an example from Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean provides a glimmer of hope. Having lost a lot of its coral reef in recent decades, scientists try to understand how the marine park's corals are changing and the impact of climate change on its survival.

Although fishing and anchoring are banned, the reef is still under pressure. Organisation Reef Renewal Bonaire actively propogate coral using different techniques, in a bid to assist natural recovery. "In the face of climate change, our work is more important than ever".
