Following up on the investigation of pedo-criminality in Saint-Maurice Abbey
Following the exposure of several child sex abuse crimes committed at St Maurice Abbey in Switzerland, this RTS report follows up on victims brought to light by the scandal.
At a press conference, canon Antoine Salina asks for forgiveness from the victims of his colleagues following RTS' initial exposure of their crimes: "we turned a blind eye... we wanted to avoid scandal, we asked for silence," he admits. Following an investigation of the abbey's archives, more survivors have spoken out. "I'm thinking about it again because we're talking about it," says Beatrice, a victim who was reminded of her trauma by the discourse, and encouraged to report it to the authorities. Another recounts the influence these attacks had on her brother's life; "his life was totally influenced by that. He certainly wasn't abused only once."
