The Producers


Léopold Belanger – Director
Léopold Belanger is a French filmmaker with a background in film studies from Concordia University in Montréal. In 2014, he moved to Myanmar, where he began directing documentaries across Southeast Asia, including projects developed for Canal+ International. In 2022, he directed The Last Overland, a four-part series chronicling a 20,000-kilometre expedition from Singapore to London. The series was broadcasted internationally on Channel 4, SBS, and BBC Earth. Léopold’s work is rooted in a cinematic and observational style, exploring themes of movement, place, and global transformation. Lobito Bound is his first feature film.


Angèle De Lorme – Producer
After studying film production in Montreal, Angèle spent nearly 15 years living and working in Asia where she gained experience collaborating with local media and Canal+ International productions among others. In 2018, she joined MEMORY! Film Festival supporting independent filmmakers in South East Asia and in 2020, she returned to France to produce impactful films projects and cinematic stories inspired by the diverse connections she’s made around the world.


Alex Bescoby – Producer
Alex is an award-winning producer and presenter, with broadcasts on Channel 4, History, BBC, Discovery and Canal+ International. He studied history at Cambridge University, and loves telling stories from remote places. He has worked closely with like-minded brands and institutions including Land Rover, The British Museum, Craghoppers and more. Earlier in his career, after specialising in conflict mineral supply chains at Judge Business School, Alex was an advisor to some of the world’s largest extractive firms on managing their operations in fragile environments.
