Forged In Fire: Ukraine's Youth At War

70% of Ukraine's kids lacking in basic requirements

Forged In Fire: Ukraine's Youth At War As the war continues to rage on, the youth of Ukraine are witnessing the largest and deadliest war in Europe since WWII. What's life like for young Ukrainians? RTS meets three of them.
“When I was a kid, I wanted to be a singer. Now, I’m an engineer, life is unpredictable.” In a small room in Kyiv University, aeronautics student Sophia diligently assembles drones for the army, a skill she learnt on YouTube. Dedicating her free time to supporting the war effort, she is proud of her contributions. Nursing student Akusher has joined the army: “It’s strange to learn how to handle a weapon, I’m aware of the injuries you can suffer”. Ivan fled his Russian-occupied hometown, cutting ties with his pro-Russian parents: “My parents betrayed Ukraine”. Sofia, Akusher and Ivan are not alone: an entire generation of young Ukrainians will be scarred for life by the war.
