Episode 1 :  A MOTHER

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

this year it rained heavily up to 20-25 days

we now live in a flooded house and we are in fear

we suffered a lot and saved our children from drowning

The rain started at 9pm in the night

the house was flooded

water got up to our necks

around 2 am we escaped our house

somewhow we swam through the floods

and reached the road

we lived there under plastic sheets

for up to one and half months

being in the road is scary for a woman

all those strangers around

we came back home when the water level decreased

we feared that it would collapse

I am scared about our baby

There are many scorpions and snakes

And the water is still deep

We have to face all of this in such bad conditions

The water is causing different types of diseases

God is not having pity on us

and the rain continues

what else can I tell you ?

we have lost our livelihood

where will I go with my little child ?

Episode 2 :  A CHILD

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

My dear little brother

I will never forget the night when you were drowning

It was raining for 10-15 days, it never stopped

Our house was flooded with water and reached my neck

We were all wet  and barefoot waiting for the rain to stop

Dad couldn’t work anymore   and the school was also flooded

The water swept away all our things

Everywhere the water was going up to our knees and we moved to the highway

At that time we suffered a lot

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

In the night we were all very scared

We stayed awake for two nights

Near the bridge you fell from our elder brother’s arms

I saw you going under water .

 I was screaming  your name

We pressed your stomach to save you and brought you to hospital

We were sleeping outside, starving.

Nobody cared for us in the hospital

They told us to leave

Dear moumohood

We are lucky that you are still with us

I care for you and our sisters

I hope we can start our life again soon

Go to school, study and become a doctor

Episode 3 :  THE LOWEST CASTE

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

Dear Governor

We are the most deprived people from the lowest caste

Our district is located below river levels

If it rains for a few days our area becomes flooded

It was on Indipendence Day.

As we raised the flag in the village

the flood came

I helped my family to reach the top of the roof

I was so scared that I felt my heart was sinking

There was nowhere to escape

We were surrounded by deep water

We built a raft made with tree trunks and went in search of food.

We survived by eating snails and molluscs

We didn’t sleep for eight days trying to protect our children from the wind and the flood

The flood has destroyed everything

There are no crops left in the fields

If the government doesn’t help us

We will die

Episode 4 :  A MIDWIFE

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->

Dear Child, you were born during the floods

we were unable to send a message to anyone

there wasn’t any way of communication

it was a time of starvation for us

everywhere was flooded along with Motihari and Madhubani

even drinking water was not available

people were compelled to starve

This year the flood showed its deadliest face

When your mother felt the pangs

your father came at 1am in the night

I covered the distance of 3 kilometers on the raft

to serve you and your mother at midnight

At that time I risked my life

so that I could save you

When I  came I found your mother in deep pain

then I started to press her stomach lightly

At 4am you were born

It wasn't possible to give you any medicines or injections

I used a blade and a thread

to cut the placenta.

Then I tied it

Since the floor was totally flooded

you were kept on the roof  covered by a plastic sheet

so both of your lives were saved

If the flood starts again , many people will die

We are still in fear
