Question to English correspondent in America:

"The man who is there in the White House behind you; is it correct that there are Christians who hate him?"

0:36

quote Charles Groenhuijsen - English correspondent in the United States

"- Yes. And there are many more of them than many people would think, more than even many other Christians imagine. Because there are a considerable number of Americans who are deeply convinced that Barack Obama - whom many still think is a Muslim - is throwing this country into a pit of godlessness. "

01:01

Late June, in Washington: a large crowd gathered outside the Supreme Court, waiting to hear the decision on the controversial “Obamacare” law. A new law designed to give every American healthcare at a reasonable price.

But debate has been raging over the law, in particular over the issue of abortion. Christian groups have argued that they are being asked to indirectly fund a practice they disagree with.

And that's not the only hot potato.

As election fever grips America, why are so many crucial Christian voters turning against Obama?

And despite being the niece of Martin Luther King Jr, she says she feels no allegiance to Obama, even though he was the first black president.

4:29 quote Charles Groenhuijsen - English correspondent in the United States

"No, he's not all that exceptional. Although he is an extreme example, fortunately. There are many people who would not agree. "

"- But he's not the only one?"

"He is absolutely not the only one. He's talking there in front of a congregation and these people listen to him every Sunday. "

5:46 clip FRAGMENT: BREAKING NEWS: OBAMA FOR gay marriage

06:12

In May Obama announced that gay marriage should be legalised.  Christian Americans argue that as the leader of a Christian nation, he's wrong.

6:22 Knight quote:

06:42

According to Knight, and many other Christian opponents of Obama, a true Christian would never allow gay marriage. Therefore, they argue, Obama is not a true Christian, and so can have no real care for American values.

6:54 ratio Charles Groenhuijsen

"They can not imagine that in their proud America gay people would be allowed to get married. This is fundamentally offensive to them. And I understand them in a way, although I do not feel the same. But knowing their convictions and their love for this country - and do not forget how proud Americans are of their country and how much they love it - they think, how can such as thing be possible in America! They honestly think this is horrible and that explains in part the hatred for that man. "

7:22

And that hatred is further fuelled by the suspicion that Obama hides his true colours. A conspiracy theory that can still be heard everywhere.

"I can not get through to Pastor Steven Anderson through his website. He doesn’t return phone calls. Continually we get his voice mail. I left a couple of messages, but I never get called back. What we do know is where the church is. And that's here in Arizona, near Phoenix. The town is called Tempe. "

But even in the town it proves impossible to get any clear information about the pastor.
