Women's Islamic clothing has come to international attention after calls to 'Ban the Burqa' made headlines across Europe. Yet in the Islamic world, the debate has been raging for centuries.
Long before France decided the veil was an affront to women, Islamic womem in Turkey were fighting for the right to wear headscarves. "We will go to university with our headscarf on!" Turkish students protest at the country's strict ban on all coverings. Some hide their headscarf under a wig, just to get through the school gates. But those unwilling to compromise face the agonising choice to abandon education altogether: "I just don't know if I made the right decision".
