Sounds of War

How Beirut’s alternative music scene persists under fire

Sounds of War Sounds of War follows Beirut’s musicians at the height of the war in Nov 2024, as they carry on amid daily bombardments. Rock bands rehearse for international tours, underground artists work through IDF alerts and the hum of drones overhead, and all create against the backdrop of constant uncertainty. The film shows how 40 years of conflict and social unrest have shaped a generation of musicians and audiences, fostering a scene that is both independent and increasingly disengaged from the West.
