As the anniversary of Joseph Stalin's birth approaches, a culture war rages in Georgia regarding controversial Soviet leader's legacy, and his place in the country's future.
Condemned by the West as a mass killer, Stalin remains popular in his birth place, the city of Gori. Seen as a folk hero, and affectionately known as "our boy", there is a museum dedicated to him, despite Georgia's official de-Stalinization policy. "No one can take away the right to remember that time", says Olga, a museum guide. "A nation that wants to be part of the free world cannot like Stalin", claims pro-European MP Giorgi Kandelaki.
