Inside Guantanamo
Inmates at Camp 6 are kept in their cells for 22 hours a day. The camp was modeled on a high security prison in America. There are no external windows and large fluorescent lights stay on 24 hours a day. "We shouldn't forget that the reason they're here is because they are terrorists", states Commander Harry Harris. Detainees eat alone and physical contact is kept to a minimum. Lawyers claim this regime of virtual solitary confinement is driving many to despair. But the military disputes this and has launched a vigorous counteroffensive. As Harris states; "We are doing an important mission in the global war against terrorism".
