Saving Argentina
Argentina votes in first round of election
Marisol Insfran, a resident of the tourist strip of La Boca, is worried for her financial future: "sometimes we can't afford a plate of food" she says. Some businesses are forced to raise prices twice a day, and more and more people are being forced to go to soup kitchens to eat, or turn to the black market for grain supplies. Oscar Rodriguez, a restauranteur, attested "I have less money to cover the same expenses." With discontent on the rise, many are turning to a political outsider to be the country's economic saviour. Radical libertarian Javier Milei seeks to remove the Central Bank. In a vast lithium deposit in the North-West, a "modern day white-gold rush" is underway. There is hope that mining this rare mineral will put an end to the economic crisis.
