“I realised that it was a huge trap. I completely froze up.” Priya came to the industry with wide-eyed enthusiasm, but her excitement soon turned to shock when her mentor, acclaimed actor Sidiq, assaulted her. The police investigation is ongoing, but Sidiq calls it a conspiracy against him. Years before the MeToo movement, renowned film editor Bina Paul founded The Women in Cinema Collective. As well as providing support to Priya and other victims, they petitioned the government for the first investigation into abuse in the industry, The Hema Committee Report.
