Fair Trade? As the 'Fairtrade' label establishes a global reputation for ethical produce, this report goes to the roots of the business in the Dominican republic and asks - is it really promoting a fair trade?

Cocoa farmer, Elvy, is full of praise for the Fairtrade co-operative, which "helps poor farmers like us". It provides the Dominicans with new facilities and financial security. Yet back in the fields, Haitian immigrant workers are at the mercy of prejudiced employers, restrictive permits and low wages. Farmer Demetrio claims, "They want this work, they ask for it". Haitian worker Jose tells it differently: "I can't do anything else".
