In Chicago's notorious South Side, gang warfare, violence and crime have long been a fact of life and it was here that a young Obama cut his political teeth working as a community activist. But as President, his promises of change aren't being felt. "We ain't employed. Nobody votes", says a local youth worker. But despite the lack of change, many still have faith in Obama. "Whoever got into the office, it wasn't going to be a quick fix. It will take time."
