Out of the Shadows

Providing healthcare to undocumented workers

Out of the Shadows With undocumented workers having difficulties accessing health care, a unique medical centre in Geneva, CAMSCO, supports the poorest in society, free from judgement.
CAMSCO offers a lifeline to undocumented workers struggling to obtain health care due to the lack of health insurance and illegal resident status. Delphine Dubied, a nurse, notes, ‘at CAMSCO I find the reasons why I wanted to be a nurse in the first place.’ The centre also strives to care for the most destitute more widely. Dr Yves Jackson, who runs CAMSCO, says ‘there is no point in treating people if you’re going to put them back in an environment that will make them sick again’.
