Islamic Resistance
Mubarak's dictatorship is fuelling the popularity of extremist groups like Islamic Jihad in Egypt. For many, they have become the only real avenue of opposition.
"Egypt is a police state," complains human rights protestor Dr Dawla. Mubarak's refusal to reform the political system is encouraging people to turn to extremist groups like Islamic Jihad. As frustration grows, Islamic Jihad's popularity is likely to increase.
