Human rights advocate Moazzam Begg returns to Afghanistan

Echoes of Bagram Moazzam Begg, a British human rights campaigner who was imprisoned without trial at both Bagram and Guantanamo Bay, returns to Afghanistan to confront his memories of torture and abuse.
Moazzam Begg was held in two of the most notorious prisons without trial. Ever since, he has advocated for those imprisoned during the US-led war on terror, including Mohammad Rahim, the last Afghan held in Guantanamo Bay. "For me my life's work since my return... has been advocating for people in such places" says Begg, speaking at Durham University. On return to Afghanistan he must confront his trauma,"everything has changed, except the memory. That hasn't changed." And now he listens to, and shares the stories of everyday Afghanis under Taliban rule:"everybody in Afghanistan has a shocking story to tell."
