Dying for Treatment How do doctors treat patients when they have no medicines and no functioning equipment? We take a rare wart-and-all look at life in an African hospital.
Steeped in debt, the government of Guinea-Bissau has no funding for medical equipment or drugs. Infections that could be easily treated are allowed to fester into life threatening illnesses. Children are left lying in hospital beds for years without seeing a doctor. Domingos has been in hospital for a year and a half. His bedsores are now so bad; "I can put my hand almost right inside."
