Flotsam and Jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam On the island of Texel the strangest things wash up on the shore. From a flood of messages in bottles to a shipload of fur coats, a combination of location and tides means the islanders have seen it all.
"I've got more than 500 bottles with letters in them", 83 year-old local man Cor Ellen tells us. A unique combination of winds, tidal systems and geography means that over 2 tonnes of flotsam and jetsam washes up on to the coast of Texel Island every day. This charming film follows the extraordinary day-to-day lives of the quirky beach combers, who have built their lives around what gets washed up on their shores.
